Baring is located between Chicago and Los Angeles in Northern Missouri.  As of 2020, the population was 125.  Baring was platted in 1888 and was named after Baring Brothers & Co., investors in the railroad (Baring Bank went defunct in 1995).  The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway ran through Baring.  On 4 Aug 2023, a EF2 tornado went through Baring and homes and businesses were greatly impacted.  A Post Office has been operating since 1888.

Edina is the County Seat, is in between North and South Forks of the South Fabius River. and is in central Knox County.  As of 202, the population is 1,012.   Edina is in Central Knox County and Knox City is to the East and Baring to the North.  Edina is considered the snowiest city in Missouri, averaging 22 inches/year.  Edina was platted in 1839 and was named after the Scottish city of Edinburgh.  A Post Office has been operating since 1850.  Notable people from Knox/or resided in Knox were Terrance Patrick Joyce (18 Jul 1954 -17 Jun 2011) was an American football player, he was born in Kirksville, Missouri but grew up in Edina; Gloria McCloskey [Rogers] (20 May 1935- ), Professional Baseball League player, was born in Edina; George Turner (25 Feb 1850-26 Jan 1932), jurist, and politician.
